Virtual running challenges

A virtual running challenge gives your weekly mileage somewhere to go. Instead of chasing a single race date, you run a long-distance route a few kilometres at a time and watch the finish come towards you. These are the Route Rally routes that work on foot at running pace, shortest first.

How a virtual running challenge works

Route Rally is a virtual challenge app in which your real runs carry you along long-distance routes. Every run you record is added to your total, so a parkrun, a midweek five and a long Sunday effort all push you further along the same line. Because progress is cumulative rather than timed, the challenge rewards turning up regularly more than it rewards any one fast session, which makes it a useful frame for base building and for keeping going between races. Run a route as a Conquest and the finish is permanent: a passport stamp that stays on your record long after the training block that earned it.
